Flights to Moreton Island from the Sunshine Coast Airport

Helitec operates CASA approved Air Transport flights from the Sunshine Coast Airport to Moreton Island and return. Passengers are to arrive at the Sunshine Coast Airport (21 Friendship Avenue, Marcoola, Qld 4564) by 8:30 am on the day of the flight. Free parking is available onsite at Helitec. Should passengers arrive after 8:45 am, any late passengers will miss the flight and forfeit their airfare. Similarly, the flight departs Tangalooma Airstrip at 2:30 pm. Passengers are required to meet at the helicopter at Tangalooma Airstrip at 2:15 pm prior to departure. In the event that passengers miss the flight, passengers will forfeit their return airfare and become responsible for contacting Tangalooma Resort and returning via ferry and road transport. All costs and delays associated with missing flights shall be borne by each passenger.

In the event that a flight is cancelled by the pilot in command, Helitec will refund the airfare or offer another flight booking. Booking cancellations 7 days or more prior to a flight booking are permitted, however customer cancellations within 7 days of a booking date will result in the forfeit of the full airfare.

Helicopter Flight Training & Local Scenic Flights

Passengers are required to advise their correct weight. Pilots wishing to train in the Robinson R22 must weigh less than 100 Kg. The maximum passenger weight for R44 scenic flights is 120 kg with a maximum combined passenger weight of 280 kg. A surcharge of 2% applies for credit card transactions.

Credit card details are required to confirm a booking. Cardholder details are destroyed once a payment is complete. Helitec may change the time or date of the flight booking for safety or operational reasons. A re-scheduling fee of $200 applies if a Guest decides to re-schedule. The Pilot in Command has the sole right to make decisions upon the weather conditions. Guests who do not attend their flight for any reason, forfeit 100% of their fare. All prices are in Australian Dollars & include GST.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority classifies a child as being from 2 years of age to under 12 years of age. Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Infants less that 2 years of age may be carried free of charge at the discretion of Helitec. Only one infant per family per aircraft may travel. Guest’s body weight in kilograms must be advised before a reservation can be confirmed. Should a client advise a weight variance of over 10%, Helitec reserves the right to charge a 100% cancellation fee. For legal and safety reasons all passengers and baggage are weighed prior to boarding.

Flights are subject to changeable weather conditions, air traffic control and other influences outside of our control. Helitec is a licensed Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) carrier operating under an Air Operators Certificate. Helitec reserves the right to carry 2 pilots on each flight. Tour times and duration’s are an approximate indication only.

Governance: Helitec Pty Ltd is a privately owned Australian company and employs a CEO, Flight Examiner, Safety Manager, Flight and Theory Instructors and Contractors.

Helitec’s CEO ensures that the company meets the requirements legislated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Australian Skills Quality Authority and the Department of Employment & Workplace Relations. Safety related matters are overseen by both the CEO and Safety Manager. Training matters are initially overseen by the Flight and Theory Instructors, however, unresolved matters may be addressed by the CEO. Flight Examiners and CASA’s PEXO theory examinations ensure quality control.
